The goal of the Department of Law is not only to groom young legal professionals, but also to expand students' horizons, and develop sharp, insightful legal minds. The Department of Political Science has more instructors and course offerings than any other political science department in Japan. The program aims to develop academically well-rounded individuals with a broad interdisciplinary outlook, so that they may develop the leadership skills required to make accurate assessments, execute policies, and take necessary initiatives when confronted with problems of a political nature.

    Карлов университет является старейшим университетом Центральной Европы. Он основан в 1348 году Чешским королем и Римским императором Карлом IV. Созданный по аналогии с Парижским университетом и Сорбонной, Карлов университет в Праге на протяжении столетий был центром просвещения и культуры не только для чехов, но и для представителей других стран Европы. Карлов Университет входит в Ассоциацию Европейских ВУЗов, наряду с Оксфордом, Лейденом, Бонном, Сорбонной, Болоньей и Университетом Женевы. На его факультетах читают лекции преподаватели из ведущих университетов мира. Юридический факультет принадлежит к числу первых четырех факультетов университета. Он был основан в 1348 году в рамках факультета свободных искусств. С 19-го века юридические науки стали развиваться на чешском юридическом факультете, который возник после разделения университета Карла Фердинанда на две самостоятельные высшие школы с разными учебными языками - чешским и немецким.

    The institution was inaugurated on October 9, 1817, after King William I in the preceding year had proclaimed the establishment of three universities in the Southern Netherlands. Lectures started on November 3rd. The first professorial staff had sixteen members, including nine foreigners, mainly Northern Dutch and Germans. In 1817 a total of 190 students registered in the four faculties: Arts, Law, Medecine and Sciences.
